Treatment with an Oral Appliance

An oral appliance, or mandibular advancement device, is a custom made, acrylic or nylon guard that fits over the upper and lower teeth. There are several mechanisms, but all of them bring the lower jaw forward to open the airway and help the patient breathe better. Generally we start in a neutral position and advance the mandible to find the right setting for you.

Dr. Stebbins was one of the first dentists in Montana board certified by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. She has taken hundreds of hours of continuing education all over the country to learn more about this important aspect of health.
